The Ouchy municipality |

Historically, Ouchy was in fact an independent municipality between the year 1144 and the Bernese invasion. When Dr. Messerli revived the Fraternity of Ouchy Pirates in 1934, Ouchy again proclaimed itself a free and independent municipality.

Every year, during a General Assembly, a Syndic (Mayor) is duly elected by the members of The Fraternity (Mr. Claude Richard is the actual Ouchy Syndic, since 2009).
